azaya: edgar allen poe examining a letter suspiciously. (what am i looking at)
Dear maker of secret #10: thank you, you legit made my day. ♥ (Yeah, I do reply to every comment, or try to. It makes me happy when people acknowledge my comments so I do the same!)

So, as long as I'm posting, do you guys mind a very brief round of "anyone want this?" I made some book defaults for myself, and they're very much tailored to my game and tastes, but in case there's anyone else out there who'd like their sims to be able to study from The Encyclopedia of Monsters, I thought I'd ask:

From left to right and top to bottom, it's reference, sci-fi, mystery, children's, drama, romance, and cooking. Leisure isn't displayed because I couldn't figure out how to get a sim to read it but it's another pulp paperback. All in separate packages, for mixing and matching! I meant to make them all one big package but had a brainfart I guess. Like I said, tailored to my own (questionable) tastes.

Exactly a month later I have more pictures. "What the hell, Azaya," I can hear you saying. "No word for a month and you can't even be bothered to bring presents?" To you I say no, I can't, but I have a fuckton of presents, mostly hair, sitting around waiting to be shared. I keep saying okay after this hair I will do a giant post full of hairs for everyone to enjoy, but the problem is that there keeps being one more hair because I keep seeing meshes and going oh I bet I could do something cute with that! But eventually I will run out of steam and halfass a huge post full of hair for you. Also some other things.

For now, pictures.

I love these two, I can't help it. Even synchronized reading is cute. That makeover of Jack's didn't last long, though.

What happened to it? )

Ok. So. Bye. Hopefully it won't be another month before I remember this journal exists.
azaya: a person reading a magazine entitled brooding hunx and giving no fucks. (oh like you wouldn't read it)
Back home again. Trip was lovely, there was much laughter and horror movies and sims and writing about demons. We even left the house a couple times, holy shit. That's like a huge victory for a couple of socially anxious homebodies like us. Anyway, now I'm home and spamming you with my game again. Fuck and yeah, am I right?

I also made some things but they're not ready to be shared yet. I would be making more things right the fuck now except that lately I've enjoyed playing so much that I haven't wanted to make anything but I keep finding things I need to make to ~complete my game~ but I can't stop playing long enough to do so. And so my project list keeps growing with no end in sight. Much like that sentence there.

Anyways. Pictures and suchlike. There's no particular order to these since I sort of jumped around a lot these last couple weeks.

Embry Brittle, sandwich-and-salad gourmet and the Grey's first vampire. She has far too many nice points for a vampire but likes to pull these faces anyway and I am just generally enchanted with her.

And now pictures that are not Embry. )

All right, it is now quarter after nine a.m. and I have been up since three-thirty yesterday afternoon so perhaps it is time to nap.

Hanging out at [personal profile] pooklet's, fuck yeah.

I come bearing a small amount of picspam today. These are pictures from my testing neighborhood, which at the moment is my only neighborhood (though I've finally picked a terrain for Greensward Grey, and if you know what I was thinking of when I named it that then you are a friend waiting to be made). I was checking to see how a particular set of content looked ingame, but I... kind of didn't really pay attention to that so much as play dress-up with my testing sims and watch them do stuff.

x4 more under the cut. )

While combing through the labyrinthine arrangement of the folders within my (and [personal profile] pooklet's) Box.net, I stumbled across a whole wealth of things I made and then, for one reason or another*, never shared. In the days to come I will probably end up doing that, because it is less harrowing than building a downloads folder from scratch. (Oh man what happened to Digital Perversion? And Rensim? And jkfdshgkjd I should have been paying attention.)

So. Look for stuff in the days to come, I guess! Because I would rather slap some sims on a black background and put some text on it than I would try to track down some of the shit I lost. Also because I like you guys and I MISSED YOU.

*See also: laziness; forgetfulness.

Hey dudes! Two things.

1) So you remember when I posted Paparazzi from Hell like two entries ago and said I was never going to be happy with my first mashup? Apparently I lied, because last week in a fit of "productivity" I said screw it and redid the whole thing from start, and since the first time I made it I've learned better techniques (e.g.: use the Time Shift tool, don't do it the moron way) and basically I am just a million times happier with it, so! Since you guys were so nice and encouraging about Paparazzi from Hell, here is my other Celldweller vs. Gaga mashup, Louder Than Bad Romance. This one has even more ridiculous backstory than Paparazzi from Hell, but it still all boils down to "lol, injokes", essentially, so let's skip it.

If you couldn't tell from the (uninspired mashup-style) name, it's Celldweller's Louder Than Words mashed with Lady Gaga's Bad Romance. Eventually I will do something that is not Celldweller vs. Lady Gaga. Probably.

[Download 'Louder Than Bad Romance (Celldweller vs. Lady Gaga)' by Skulldilocks.]

2) I recently got a new computer, a laptop which I love to death and back, and yesterday I finally bit the bullet and decided to see if Sims 2 runs on it because I miss that game like burning and also, I confess, I miss some people in the community too. Long story short, halle-fucking-lujah, it runs! Pretty well, even. Maybe better than on my old desktop. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get Kingfisher Green or my old downloads off my orphaned hard drive, which means I get the joy of building a neighborhood and a downloads folder from scratch. But I wasn't crazy about all the stuff packs I had installed before, so maybe this will turn out to be awesome instead of ujherkgjrhekjhfjksdffd-inducing.

So, um, yes, I'm simming again! At least once I get downloads sorted, and probably on a much more limited basis, given that I have more important commitments like the novel I am co-writing with my bestie, not to mention my own novel, and a job (omg ew, work) and probably school. But SIMS, GUYS, OH MY GOD I AM SO EXCITED EJUHEFjzkhskdjshd as you can see because I keep degenerating into keysmashes.

Yet another 100% original birthday card! This time for [personal profile] beescratch.

It looks like you will be getting your birthday present and your Christmas present in the same package, because I failed hardcore at sending Christmas gifts on time this year. Happy birthday!

Like much of Polyvore, I've made a small tribute set to Alexander McQueen, who is one of my favorite designers (along with Vivienne Westwood, probably the only designer I like whose name people would recognize). I guess I liked him even more than I thought I did, because I'm more depressed about his death than I would've expected.

I hope that wherever he is now, he's happier.

Unrelated: like the rest of the world, I now have a formspring. Me? Pass up an opportunity to answer questions? Never. If you've got a formspring too, let's be pals.

A book meme, because I love books and memes are fun. Booksssssss. )

Today was spent in gun safety class at the gun range I didn't even know was five minutes from my house, because my dad is set on buying a gun and wants us all to know how to use it. My hands hurt from loading magazines and I smell like gunpowder, but I am now certified in Gun Safety Procedure and Basic Pistol. And hey, at least now when I write about a character owning or using a gun, I won't sound quite so clueless.

I wore skull socks and a bustle skirt to the gun range. (I asked dad what a lady should wear to gun class, and he said she should just dress the way she always does, so I did.) I gotta be me, baby.

Just your friendly neighborhood camwhore, whorin' it up.

By which I mean I've owed [personal profile] petitchat pictures of my corset since Christmas, and today I finally got around to lacing myself into it again. (I have come to realize that an overbust is not the best choice for a first corset when no one else in your house understands how to lace you into it.) Velvet and grommets and laces, oh my! )

My sister decided to watch over my shoulder the other day as I was going backwards through my journal (attempting to appease sims withdrawal, naturally), and was for some reason astounded by my self-sim.

"SHE LOOKS JUST LIKE YOU HOW THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT?"

Comparison picture, because I don't think I've ever done one... )

Either way, it amused me for the fifteen seconds it took to type and post this entry. Has anyone else had a similar experience? (Translation: I WANT TO TALK SIMS, TAKE PITY ON ME.)

So far, for me, the holiday season has been myriad shopping trips, never-ending present wrapping, unexpected and intense cramps (oh the delights of being a girl), rereading favorite novels, eating too many cookies, repeated viewings of all our Christmas DVDs, getting odd looks from elderly people in department stores, obsessive editing of playlists, and embracing my stereotypicality with The Sisters of Mercy's 'This Corrosion' on repeat. I hope it has been lovely for all of you, too!

Boyfriend has a brand new motherboard that is compatible with my graphics card that he says he will mail to me post-holidays. Delight.

Why You Do Not Want To Be My Friend, A Non-Fiction Screenplay

A shocking confession! )

Firstly: I am aware that my foreigndestiny photobucket account is inactive. I would take care of this, except that it is one of three photobucket accounts I have, and I can't remember what e-mail is associated with it, so I can't log in and reactivate it. Balls.

Secondly: A meme about being a girl that I've seen floating around lately, because I'm bored and memes entertain me. Makeup, shoes, shopping! )

On the same track, I've been making eyes at Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab lately, and have decided that if I find a job soon I will reward myself with Arkham and Embalming Fluid and maybe Zombi. I am toying with the idea of purchasing Cthulhu just so I can say I'm wearing Cthulhu, but for fifteen dollars a bottle I think I'd rather have Arkham.

I mentioned this to my mother yesterday. I don't think her eyes have rolled back out of the top of her head yet.

Folding laundry is boring, so instead I will witter to you fine people about my day. Such as it was.

I broke another mp3 player, and this is why I will never have an iPod (or, more likely, a Zune, because I dislike iTunes). This is the second cheap little Sansa I've broken in three months, and I think it's probably because I keep putting homemade mp3s on them. They usually start acting funny after I do that. You'd think I'd learn. And breaking a little 30 dollar mp3 player is worlds away from breaking a piece of electronics costing multiple hundreds of dollars. So, no Zune. They don't seem to come in pink anyway, which dims my enthusiasm somewhat.

Here I was going to blather about something else, but I realized I didn't really do much else today, besides some very small fashion-related things. And notice that I've been forgetting my medication again and taking it. How very exciting. Now I'm going to finish the laundry and then go hot-glue a rubber spider to a barrette, because what's a goth girl without a spider in her hair?

How's everyone else been lately? I feel so out of touch.

Edit: Oh hey, mp3 player's working again. Fingers crossed that it stays such.

Sitting around waiting for my sister to get the fuck out of the shower so we can go to the mall (Black Friday shopping, ahoy), I managed to get a shred of writing done. Not for TSA (bad Enna!) but at this point I'm happy to have had inspiration to write anything.

Since sharing writing seems to be the modus operandi for November, here it is for you fine fellows to peruse.

They walked quickly, not looking back. )

I'm not 100% on all the phrasing, but getting it down felt good. I'll fix it in the second draft, forty years from now.

I hope everyone who celebrates it had a lovely Thanksgiving; I know I did.

So, verdict on the computer: deader than dead. But the computer friend of Pooklet's who investigated it says he has some parts I'm welcome to (and also a case with skulls on it; in case you missed that, a CASE with SKULLS ON IT. My gothy affections, he has purchased them), so I may theoretically have a computer that works again soon.

If not, well... Tim will help me find parts to upgrade the insides. It'll just take longer.

As for how visiting Pooklet is going, I have only this to say: ♥♥♥♥♥

Tomorrow morning, I leave for [personal profile] pooklet's house (well, first the airport, then [personal profile] pooklet's house). I imagine at some point I will see fit to update those of you who care on our doings, but if not, see you on the 20th!

Absolutely unrelated, things I should have done today:
- cleaned up my room
- scoured the sinks
- written some more TSA

...as opposed to things I actually did today:
- caught up on Haute Macabre
- caught up on Gothic Charm School
- wrote some smut for a friend's birthday

I am ever-productive.

How has my NaNo (which is just "let's get another 50k words into TSA") been going? Well, as you can see, I have been productively playing Diablo 2:

For the non-Diablo 2-savvy, the title of matriarch is what you get for beating the entire game in all three difficulties (in softcore mode; yes, I'm a wimp). How exciting, right?

Edit: @secret 24, the first entry at [personal profile] thestrangeaeons contains a resource list. It's geared more toward what I used for the story than my usual game, but you can find the vast majority of the stuff I use. (Though it is in desperate need of an update.)
