Picture post! Been awhile since I did one of those. Probably because it's been awhile since I've allowed myself to play. You may draw your own conclusions as to why because it is related to boring personal reasons.

I felt no particular urge to pick up Gladsheim or Halcyon Point again, so I started fresh with a partial beach hood tentatively named Kingfisher Green. It's quite, quite bare currently-- there's about five lots, and only two sims, Hattie and Jelly. Today I am spamming you with Hattie Bloume's place.

Hattie herself first, because I think she's adorable and so far she's been a hoot. Full name is Hathaway, but she saves it for special occasions. According to the incredibly involved and complex method* I use for determining a sim's role in life and in the neighborhood, Hattie is a seamstress who uses the money she earns selling sewed bits of cloth to fund her campaign for city councilwoman. And she jumps in a lot of puddles. Aside from that, she has a skeptical interest in the occult, so she's known to mess around with tarot and Ouija boards and then freak the fuck out when something actually happens.

Not sure what she was looking at. Anyway, on to the shack. It's one of loco-plus's starter houses, made over because I don't do bright and modern. Often.

The exterior:

Dining room/front hall:

Attached kitchen:

Tiny and fairly sparse bathroom:

Living room, in which much rope is jumped:

Finally, the bedroom, which went the way of Bluebottle's blue dorm room, it seems:

And what an exciting view that is out the windows.

* Look at interests, pick the two highest and somehow combine them, often with ensuing lulz.

I'm working on a few things, but mostly I'm enjoying playing a little again. I hope not to get as sucked in this time, but even if I do, I comfort myself with the knowledge that my sim mania has a cycle, and this must simply be the "OMG I CAN HAS!" stage. And this, too, shall pass. I've also revisited days of gaming past by digging up my Baldur's Gate discs, so I've got that to distract me from writing too.

January fast approaches. I suppose I ought to make up my mind about college.

I simply love your taste.

That house is so cool. I love the bathroom and bedroom especially. And Hattie is super cute.

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-12-18 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you, on both counts.

Ah she has frog of DOOM watching over her. Love her and her place, so fun. I love tucking fire extinguishers into the kitchen xD It amuses me.

In the bathroom, did you combine the Uni shower with a regular bathtub? Will they use both like that? Cuz it looks awesome.

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-12-18 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
She does! Everyone needs the Disapproving Frog to keep an eye on them. (I plan to get a print of the picture in real life if I can. xD)

That is what I did, yeah. As to whether the shower functions, I don't know. I know the bathtub does.

[identity profile] rustedinkwell.livejournal.com 2008-12-17 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
The color combinations look awesome. Every time I throw dark colors in a house I can never manage to offset it with enough bright so everything just looks dull and gloomy but not is a nice way. I envy your decorating skills.

Baldur's Gate! Oh man, that was the first computer game I ever got that wasn't a kiddy "learn how to spell" game back when I was about eleven. I miss that game. I never did manage to get very far in it.

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-12-18 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you. Usually I do dark or bright colors, but I felt like combining them this time. I think it turned out nicely.

It was one of the first RPGs I played on a computer! I don't think I ever finished it, because my computer at the time was shitcakes and crashed at cutscenes. I've since finished all the Icewind Dale games, so I figure I ought to go back and complete BG, since I loved it for years.

[identity profile] rustedinkwell.livejournal.com 2008-12-18 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
Icewind Dale was amazing too. Guh. Old D&D computer games = win. You are making me nostalgic. XD

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-12-18 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
I made myself nostalgic too, hence I'm playing them again. xD

Ooh the Baldur's Gate series is so awesome, as are your houses. Love the Frog o' Doom and all the green hair dye. I, too, am curious about the uni shower + bathtub thing because that would be seriously fun to play with.

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-12-18 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I agree that Baldur's Gate is awesome, and thank you :D

[identity profile] kinemortophobia.livejournal.com 2008-12-18 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
I think that's my favorite house of yours and I am truly a sucker for bright bits of color against darker grungy backgrounds. Hattie is so cute! Neon green + purple = 42.

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-12-18 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
I think it's my favorite house of mine so far for the same reason you gave. So "What is neon green plus purple?" is the eternal question? Good to know!

[identity profile] kinemortophobia.livejournal.com 2008-12-19 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Neon green + purple = the Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything, yup yup.

I can't believe I didn't comment on how friggin' awesome Baldur's Gate is. I think I will be forever trying to recreate my characters from that game in every MMO I dabble in. Minsc and Boo forever!

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-12-19 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
You realize you have just become all the more awesome in my eyes, because you have done the same dorky thing as I have. I had a warrior/ranger who I called Minsc Is Risen in Guild Wars who I kept in pre-searing (the beginning area) with a pet bear named Boo (no hamsters, sadly). We ran around smashing up bandits and skale and hunting Charr across the wall. Good times. I think I deleted him to make a mule at some point. Alas.

I love the sharp bursts of colour amidst the grunge. Hattie has a lot of dye (>_<)

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-12-19 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
She does, mostly because I wish that I could remember to get a couple bottles at a time and not constantly be e-mailing Amphigory for more. xD

[identity profile] buttercup-77.livejournal.com 2008-12-19 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Such a cute house! And I love the bathroom, where did you find those very cute bottles of hair dye? Anyway very cleverly done, thanks for sharing :-).

Thank you so much! :-)

Oooh I forgot to say that god yes, love BG too, I had been playing it myself fairly recently but took it off my pc when I got AL. Its a fun game and never gets boring, not to me anyway.

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-12-19 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
It has yet to get boring for me either :D

[identity profile] simperfect.livejournal.com 2008-12-19 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Hattie's house is gorgeous (and Hattie is pretty too). I too like the hair dye and generally just about everything.
