Get out of my tessitura, Gerard Way

In the interests of writing our Gerard Way/Marilyn Manson RPS fic, [livejournal.com profile] pooklet sent me some My Chemical Romance to rape my ears with listen to. And something horrible happened: I didn't completely hate it. In fact, I can't stop singing it. Mostly because I haven't done much singing in about two years and as such my once fairly limber voice ("I COULD SING HIGH E!" she yells frantically) is reminescent of a boy going through puberty. The songs are right in the bottom-middle of my range, so that aside from the inherent awfulness of the songs they don't sound so bad when I sing them.

Fuck you, Gerard Way. Give me back my tessitura.

More importantly, I made up a list of things I am doing/need to do, sims-wise, and am posting it so that I can keep track of it and people can poke me if they see something interesting on it that I haven't gotten to yet.

- base game versions of Dining in Dreamland (easy but SO BORING.)
- [livejournal.com profile] ugly_kitties's records DONE AND IT WAS SOUL-CRUSHING.
- fix that fucking knitting mesh and recolor it
- other extracted bits, namely, decide which to do and do them
- track down the texture file of the pool table trick cup (IT HAS TO BE THERE SOMEWHERE)
- finish Big Damn Furniture List for Pooklet
- alpha edit hair for Camille (related: select hair to alpha edit for Camille)
- books? You said you were going to do some, do them.
- resize Mirake's mesh, make it a new object, slave it to the original (LOLYEAHRIGHT) holy shit did it
- OMSPS for all the important things (Gelydh's boxes stacked on coffee table for instance, why isn't there one that fits that anyway?)
- read up on hair meshing to hack that bun off the Rose mesh (related: fail at hair meshing)
- figure out what the fucking problem is with the TV mesh because it was an awesome idea
- more jewelry?
- LEARN TO REPOSITORY, IT'S NOT THAT HARD, IDJIT Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] gelydh for her tutorial and patience.

I like MCR.... I've seen them live twice, they were ace. :P Which album is it? Go on, you can tell me.

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-09-02 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
...I was going to refuse saying I still had some pride, but then I remembered I already posted about it, so that's a pretty stupid excuse. The Black Parade.

[identity profile] fainiel-sims.livejournal.com 2008-09-02 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Pffft, that's their "poppy" album. Try this from their debut:

I've seen them live once. It was rather awesome. ^.^; Worry not, I'm slightly closet about them now too. I jumped in the the fanbase just before Black Parade came out, but Three Cheers is my favorite. It took me a while to get used to his voice. I used to sing in choir at high school, so I kept picking up on all the fuck ups he did with notes and such. It's catchy though. Some of the songs are really good too. Ghost of You is especially pretty I think.

Good luck with meshing. I lack patience to learn it, so I wish you a whole shit-ton of luck there.

I can honestly say MCR was one of those bands I listened to before they were "cool" and I'm not sure how this makes me feel. Regardless, they got James Jean (my favorite artist on the planet) to do the cover art for The Black Parade, so I can't really hate them per say but I do fucking despise what they and every other fucking band like them has done to emo music. Emo music used to be fucking good. It used to be about crying onstage and Buddy Holly glasses and moppy hair and awkward glances and skinny white boys from the Midwest playing music in their basement while wearing their underweight grandfather's mossy green sweaters. NOW IT'S ABOUT POO AND FUCKING MYSPACE. ARRGH.

Okay, I'm done.

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-09-02 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here, for quite a long time I couldn't listen to anything but opera and/or bands that had former opera singers fronting them because they could be trusted to 'do it right'. Finally a friend of mine forced me to listen to a wider variety of music because he was sick of me bitching whenever he put on Manson or Slayer.

Object meshes I have no problems with. Hair scares me. >.>

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-09-02 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
'Poo and Myspace' is rather redundant, don't you think? :P

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-09-02 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Goddammit. Now I have that stuck in my head instead. xD;

[identity profile] kinemortophobia.livejournal.com 2008-09-02 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Fine, fine. MYSPACEPOO AND SOUPYRADIOACTIVEREALPOO. WITH PIERCINGS. AND BAD HAIRCUTS.

All-caps is rage.

[identity profile] rustedinkwell.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Manson and Slayer DO suck though. Or maybe that's just me. XD

[identity profile] rustedinkwell.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, MCR initially wanted to be like the Misfits but have more metaphorical lyrics. There was another band Gerard threw in there, but I can't remember the name. It's been a while since I've seen the interview.

It's those damn teenagers that messed everything up. DAMN KIDS GET OFF MY LAWN!

I blame AFI. And Good Charlotte.

[identity profile] kinemortophobia.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
You're absolutely right, it isn't really the fault of MCR. "Emo is bullshit," is a very accurate statement given the circumstances of what popular culture now regards as "emo music".

Oh my stars and garters, who described Good Charlotte as emo? Where are they? CAN I HIT THEM?

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
Totally just you, at least as to Manson. Slayer I still don't like.

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
Personally I would just describe Good Charlotte as 'fail'.

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
Actually I do like their cover of "Inna Gadda Da Vida", purely because they compressed a seventeen-minute epic into three minutes and it makes me giggle. But other than that yeah. Suck.

[identity profile] rustedinkwell.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 09:05 am (UTC)(link)
I can't remember. I don't think I talk to them anymore either, so no loss there!

Oddly, I do remember when emo was called 'emotional music' instead and most of it was indie/hipster stuff. Before the scene-kid shit. Back in the day when livejournal was still in control of Brad Fitzpatrick and we didn't have tags. *shakes cane* I don't remember any band names though since it was a girl on a long lost flist that was into it.

[identity profile] rustedinkwell.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, to each their own. I'm not fond of Manson's style, and heavy metal tends to make me cringe. There's only so much Lamb of God and Chimaira I can take before I go crawling in the other direction.

Then again... I'm an odd duck. I like Hurt and OneRepublic which are on completely opposite sides of the musical spectrum. But Hurt is preeeeeetty.

[identity profile] kinemortophobia.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Emotional Hardcore" is what it was.

You remember when making an LJ required an invite code? Yeah. Those were the days.

*listens to Braid, Rainer Maria, Cap'n Jazz and puts her teeth in a glass full of water*

HERE (http://pics.livejournal.com/gelydh/gallery/0003qhkh?page=1) is your Gelydh-ified Repository Technique Tutorialâ„¢. It's... limited, but I'm hoping it will at least help you out some. :) Keep clicking on the pictures until they get to be full-size; I left them huge so they could be easily read. If you have any questions/need more explanation/whatever, go ahead and ask!

And I would love you forever if you made OMSPS for my cardboard robots boxes. :D No, of course I couldn't do it myself...

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It's the least I can do, seeing as I now love you forever :P Thank you so much for doing this!

[identity profile] sixtylilies.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm also partial to opera, which is rather the opposite of heavy metal, so I know what you mean.

[identity profile] rustedinkwell.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. XD I remember when they were put in and when they were taken out. I think I can find a journal or two from back then that I don't remember the passwords for anymore.

*sips lemonade and rocks in her chair*
