So hey, remember those book defaults I mentioned a billion million years ago? Actually it was like last week sometime but I thrive on overdramatics. Well, here they are. They would've been up earlier but after making the non-default recolors that were suggested, I realized that it looked really weird for some of them to have their name on the spines and some of them not to, so then I wasted several days procrastinating on changing the spine textures and then doing it.
But here they are now!
In the top row, left to right: reference, sci-fi, mystery, children's. Bottom row, also left to right: drama, romance, and cooking. Still no picture of leisure up here, but you can see it a bit farther down.
These will replace all the base game books and all the FT books. If you only have/want the base game replacements, you'll be wanting the packages labeled Reference, Leisure, and Children's. The others are all from FT.
Since I neglected to show you any proof that they actually work ingame, here you go, a couple of legacy outtakes to remedy that:
Eulalie expands her knowledge of the fearsome Stilken and Hrule. (It is the Encylopedia of Monsters, after all.)
While Almond sticks to vampire tits.
Also, it was suggested that I make some recolors with these textures for people that don't want defaults, so here you are! Two recolors of 4esf's books mesh, which is a functional bookcase placeable anywhere if you aren't aware. It's rad.
You can see the ~hidden~ leisure default there too, Reform School Girl. I was never able to get a sim to pull the leisure book out of the bookcase, I think it's what the romance novel cover was used for in pre-FT bookcases but I'm not sure. Anyway, there it is.

hat_plays_sims's or... anyone else's that exist, I'm actually not aware of any others. I didn't use Hat's packages, since hers are set up to allow you to buy the books from the catalogue and I didn't want that, but I did pull her packages apart to figure out how they worked, and she gave me the idea in the first place. So thank you very much, Hat!
The mesh for the 4esf recolors is not included, because I updated mine to FT. [Please download it here if you don't have it already.]
And... that's it, I think! These have been tested pretty thoroughly in my own game, but it's always possible I cocked something up, so please let me know for fixins' if I did!
