Cleaning Out My Playlists - Documentaries & RL: Life, Censorship & Politics Edition.

Tagged as Non Sims, so it could be filtered out or whatever, for when I go off-topic. Looks like there's a limit to the amount of embedded media I can put in a post, so I'll figure out how to add what's not showing up, maybe rearrange it in two parts. I'm listing this mainly to myself, and on the off chance anyone will even see this, maybe it'll be of interest to others. but the lack of interactions with other people here on this site is a bummer. anyway, here's what I picked out off my YT playlists, that I think are particularly interesting finds, not all are doco films, some are interviews etc.

Frank Zappa - Interview - 12/8/1984 - unknown

"Britain's Best Sitcom" - Yes minister (1/4) |  Year xxxx.

Nina Simone Tribute Broadcast

The War on Drugs - Where to invade next
| Michael Moore. Xxx year.

'Icarus': How an amateur cyclist fell into secret world of Russian doping
| ABC News, 2017.

What is Happening to Women's Figure Skating? | An Essay | PART 1, xxx year.

Debt | Eric Toussaint, International spokesperson for the CADTM (Committee for the Abolition of Illegitimate Debt – formerly called Committee for the cancellation of Third World debt) | xxx, 2024.

Bonus: a song from a musical.

NYT Retro Report Series, Here's the Playlist:

Censorship:

Frank Zappa at PMRC Senate Hearing on Rock Lyrics | 1985.

South Park - Matt Stone on Problems with the MPAA | PaleyFest LA, 2000.

Sims 2: Massive Mildly Medieval Medley: Part 5: Facial Hair

Massive Mildly Medieval Medley!
Part 5: ~It's the Beards~

I don't know about you, but my poor dwarven lady sims have been suffering from a severe lack of facial hair! I decided to fix that with a few new meshes...

Maxis beards: meshed, unmeshed, holiday, base game, and BV (with one alt alpha for the devil beard mesh)

Facial hair from Phaenoh's Stache Blast

Other meshed beards from Piesims, Saathei, and Syn

So yeah, that's a total of 9 meshed beards from Maxis (4 standard Base Game, 1 re-alphaed beard from BG, 3 Bon Voyage, 2 Holiday), 6 unmeshed from Maxis, 4 stubbles from Maxis, 10 unmeshed from Phaenoh's Stache Blast, 2 meshed from Piesims, 1 meshed from Saathei, and 1 meshed from Syn. Plus converted meshed wispy brows from BV, grouped with the EP files! All the unmeshed beards are for teen through elder in my usual colors** and family groupings with black linked to grey. Meshed beards and brows are similar, but for adults and elders only. All meshes should be pretty much the same as the male beards (technical note: I built the meshes as glasses and then recategorized them, so there's a "lens" in there but it's like two polys).

Also there's a bonus accessory - a fake mustache! This mustache is found under glasses and is for all ages and genders with one color. It's pretty much just the mesh from the handlebar mustache so the polycount should be about the same (see technical note above). I find it amusing, I hope your sims do too!

**Just a reminder that I'm now using the Amon color from DigitalAngels for my dark family black hair color instead of Flashpowder.

Female Stubble
Female Facial Hair Maxis Unmeshed
Female Facial Hair Maxis Meshed Base Game
Female Facial Hair Maxis Meshed Expansions
Female Facial Hair Phaenoh Stache Blast
Female Facial Hair Piesims Beards
Female Facial Hair Saathei's and Syn's Beards
Fake Mustache Accessory

Beards for the Duergar!

And then to make sure I have all my bases covered -- I recolored ALL of my facial hair in Timebomb. Including all of the new female beards above! Now your Underdark denizens can have properly colored facial hair too. So you get all of those beards plus all eyebrows (minus my first set of brows because I already have them there) in custom binned white Timebomb for all ages.

Male Maxis & Phaenoh Unmeshed Timebomb Facial Hair

Male Piesims Syn Saathei Meshed Timebomb Facial Hair
Female Maxis & Phaenoh Unmeshed Timebomb Facial Hair
Female Maxis Meshed Timebomb Facial Hair

Maxis Eyebrows Timebomb

And one more tiny download to finish off the set: some mods that allow (male) Maxis beards, mustaches, and wispy BV brows to spawn randomly on townies! Keep in mind these WILL activate the delete button, so like, don't press it.

I'm back!

I've decided to return to modding (at least while I have time) since I was really missing it. A break was good for me though -- I learned to embroider, crochet, spin fiber, and make paper!

Updates: I've reuploaded a few facial hair-related files to replace the Flashpowder color with Amon (I had been debating about it before I took a break anyway). The Amon files are just the Flashpowder files with updated textures and filenames, so don't keep both in your game at the same time, they'll conflict.

I'm just finishing up the last few things for my next new upload (more for the Mildly Medieval project!) so stay tuned!

Catholic school 1940's Quebec

Hi!

I've been reading up on the historical Catholic school system in Quebec, and I've gathered that until 1960 there were commonly Catholic schools that were supported by public funds (officially ended in the 90's). I've been able to find the names of some of the girl's schools, but haven't been able to easily find the names of any of the mixed or boy's schools below the high school level.

Anyone know any specific schools that could have served a 10-year old, working class, Catholic boy in Montreal or Quebec City ~1940?

Thanks!
